Bidfood's New 86,000 sq ft Food Distribution Facility
Project Overview:
We have recently handed over a full builder’s and sparkle clean at a newly constructed 86,000 sq ft food distribution facility. The works covered both the office areas and main factory spaces, which included specialist environments such as cold rooms and freezer rooms, ensuring the site was cleaned and prepared for handover.
The Scope of Works:
This was a large-scale commercial project requiring cleaning across multiple areas of the facility.
The project included:
- Builder’s and sparkle clean of the office area, including high-level roof cleaning.
- Cleaning of the main factory floor and cladding.
- Cleaning of cold and freezer rooms.
- Internal cleaning of cladding throughout the facility.
- Cleaning of stairwells and access areas.
- Coordination of external cladding cleaning.
The Challenge:
Large industrial environments, particularly within the food sector, require a consistently high standard of cleanliness across all areas prior to handover.
On this project, builder’s dust and residue had built up across internal cladding beams, including high-level areas throughout the factory. These spaces required a thorough clean to ensure all surfaces were left to the required standard ahead of handover.
High-level areas, including the office roof, also required careful planning to ensure safe and effective access was achievable within the deadlines permitted.
Our Approach:
We carried out the project in structured phases, beginning with the builder’s clean to remove heavy dust and residue across the site.
This included:
- Clearing dust and residue from floors and surfaces.
- Cleaning internal cladding and structural elements.
- Addressing build-up within the factory, cold room, and freezer.
High-level cleaning works were carried out using MEWPs. This allowed our team to safely access elevated areas and ensure all surfaces were cleaned thoroughly while maintaining strict health and safety standards.
Once the builder’s clean was complete, we carried out the final sparkle clean across the office spaces and factory areas, focusing on presentation and attention to detail ahead of handover.
The Result:
The project was completed successfully, with all areas of the facility left clean, consistent, and ready for final inspection at handover.
By covering the office spaces and specialist factory rooms, high-level areas, and internal cladding, we ensured the building was presented to the required standard across the entire facility.
The final sparkle clean provided the finishing touches needed to prepare the site for operational use.
